Dear Colleagues,

Just recently I had the opportunity  to work with a small group of managers from a large, international organization. We brainstormed on an organizational issue (how to meet customer demands for lower costs and still maintain quality) and got good results using traditional methods. But I decided to take a risk and suggested we look at the next set of issues using a method that would draw upon the tacit knowledge of the group. Tacit knowledge is the knowledge we don't know we know. We draw upon it intuitively.  It is not something we measure as facts and figures.  We did two constellations; one around how to implement a major change in policy and the other how to get buy-in to a new strategy. Resistance to both the new policy and strategy was expected. The managers were very excited by the OC process and insights that emerged. I was delighted to see their openness to trying something very different from the usual way of analyizing business issues. Thanks to current events, perhaps, people in the business world may be more ready than we might expect to open up to new
ideas and methods.

The April OC sig meeting in Mclean marked  a turning point in how our meetings unfold. Usually, we start
out with one or two warm up activities to give people a feel for OC work. At this meeting we had more people
ready to do a constellation than we had time for. So we started right away and worked with 4 different situations.
One was purely a business constellation. The others were a mixture of business and career. In one of those
we went (very carefully) into the underlying dynamics of the family of origin that were impacting business
success. Each time we have a meeting I gain a deeper appreciation of the power of this work and the gifts we
gain when we do it together. I certainly have been deeply impressed by the courage and intergrity the participants
have shown.  The May 1 workshop at the CBODN conference was very well received. More than 30 attendees showed up for the hour and a half session introducing the OC concepts. One brave soul volunteered
to work an actual business issue. As the representatives reported out their feelings and concerns during the constellation that person kept saying, "that's just the way it is back at the office!"

Here is our elevator speech:

Do you have a challenging client or a client with a challenging situation? Are you are looking for insights on how to best deal with the current issues in your work? Do you have to make a critical decision that impacts the future of your company or your career? Are you working with business strategy or change management issues? If any of the above questions are true, you may find the Organizational Constellation process to be particularly useful. Come and work on your professional issue or business challenge or come as an OD professional interested in learning more about this non linear methodology. The first part of the meeting we may do one or two demonstration constellations to give people a better understanding of the process. Generally we will spend most of the meeting working with the current business or professional challenges participants bring to the workshop.

PS, If you donate for snacks you don't need to register since it will show you are coming.
Please register so we have a head count on how many to expect.
Many thanks for pitching in a few bucks for snacks.
